It is a hotel with "soul". The location, surrounded by mountains & essentially hewn out of rock, memorabilia & historical photos/records all make it a deeply moving place to experience. The hotel has been holding the standard for the best & brightest for nearly 100 years! That says it all.

My wife and I went for our 25th anniversary. The surrounding Ashville area, for hiking and enjoying the smokey mountains, as well as plentiful art galleries and great food in the town was wonderful. The hotel does not get an overall 5 because of cost and little things that you would not expect from a top notch resort. The room is a bit pricey but  not overly so for the quality of the resort. However there were slight maintenance issues in the room. Little things like paint and wood damage on the bottom of the bathroom door. Bedding was not top notch... The sound from the hallway seemed to amplify through the room, which was not welcome at 2am. Bottom line is a 5 star would be better. A lot of top notch resorts like this take into account big life moments, like a 25th anniversary. But don't expect that here. We were just another guest, though they were well aware of the occasion. Not really a big deal at all, but just one of those little things you would get from a 5 star. Food and service cost was high as well. Some worth the price and some not so much. I don't have a problem with the $54 steak at the sunset restaurant. The atmosphere and service were excellent. So the high end restaurants, though pricey were worth it and what you would expect. But when you get up for breakfast, and choose the buffet, $60 for 2 people was high and not nearly worth it. We went 2 straight days for breakfast and didn't return. The food was just ok, and the service was less then ok. Both times different servers came to us right away and took our coffee and juice order, delivering them some 20 minutes later half way through our meal. (I don't know about you, but I need my coffee in the morning). Same goes when waiting for our table. They take your name and ask you to sit and wait. There are plenty of tables and servers. 15 minutes later someone comes walking in and then calls your name, and sits you at a table that has been empty for the whole time. Its not like they were understaffe

I chose Grovepark Inn for my 5 year cancer free celebration and was not disappointed! After checking in and unpacking my suitcase I enjoyed a 5 star meal on Friday evening. Saturday I had a facial at the wonderful spa and treated myself to a new bathing suit.

We went for my boyfriends birthday and even though he wasn't feeling well it was one of the best and most relaxing times that we have had. We can't wait for a return visit. Do not miss the spa even if you do the day pass it is worth it.

Amazing hotel, wonderful customer service, INCREDIBLE spa. Just do not expect too much out of the rooms. Very standard and on the small side.

The hotel retains its charm, and overall is comfortable and appealing. However, the rates are quite high for what is offered. Breakfast service by Kirsten was outstanding, and the food was good. We had dinner at the Horizons restaurant. Food was tasty........portions were ridiculously tiny and far too $$$.......this is from a person who is a small   eater.

The resort scenic views and service was excellent. The room was just average. I was not impressed with bed linens etc. For the amount of money we spent, it was not worth it. I would not return. There are other hotels to explore.

Grove park inn. was great with the exception that since I personally flew in I didn't realize that you would need a car anyway if you plan to also visit Bitlmore which is a must see.

The overall ambiance is just wonderful . I prefer the older rooms, cozier and quaint. Great food, we shared a filet of beef and a grouper dish , side of corn pudding and a salad. No room for dessert until later. The cream puff with chocolate sauce compared to my homeade one. Very good entertainment , The Killer Bees , a pop/ rock group. The only suggestions  I can add are : new lampshades for all the lamps in our room (they were crumpled and worn), one of the robes provided was frayed at the collar , very badly. The television should have high devinition channels, all of them were poor quality. It is a waste to have a great television and not provide the high def. channels.
